Last weekend was another hot & steamy one in Minneapolis but perhaps when you plan a wedding a year or more out your biggest hope is for no rain…period. In celebration of no rain (and working air conditioning) and adoration from around the country for this couple….I present Megan and John David (JD).
Jill and Andy.
I squealed when Jill e-mailed me that she was getting married and couldn’t wait to meet Andy and hear about their plans. I’ve known Jill for 5 years and eagerly said “YES!” to being their photographer. Jill and Andy exchanged vows nearly 3 weeks ago and I got to capture the day and witness all the emotion and celebration through my lens. And let me just say that I love it when couples involve me in the process. It’s as if they know that I would want to know…and they’re right. When I map out my photography coverage, I get all the details and the order of the day down leaving little to chance. I’m big on spontaneity but key details are…well, key details so don’t be afraid to lay ‘em on me! When it’s important to you…it’s doubly important to me to capture them for you.
You may remember Jill and Andy’s Engagement session from April of this year and here they are as husband and wife. Congratulations you two!
Black & White
In a world brimming over with color I often wonder what it is about black and white images that seem to stop time. I recently found…and I wish I could remember who said it…a quote that went something like this….”In a color portrait you see the person, in a black and white portrait you see the soul.” Palpable, isn’t it?
Well…I’ve noticed, lately, that I seem to leave many of my images in color…I haven’t been converting many. I guess living in Minnesota with so many colorless months I’ve simply gravitated towards colored images. They’re happy. Color images smile.
So I asked myself…do you only want to capture time? OR, would you like to make an impact with those very same images and stop time? Hmmmm. I think it’s high time I select the latter. Now, I’m not saying that I’m leaping off the color wagon but perhaps I’ll dabble with sitting on the running board and drag my boots a bit. Here are some recent captures of mine…thanks for checking in…
Friday Weddings!

(random shots from other weddings)
I have my first Friday wedding of the season
today in St. Paul (Alicia & Matt).
Gary and I were married on a Friday about
10 & a half years ago. I like the idea of
a Friday wedding. In today’s (and I hate to
say it) “eCONomy” brides are savvier than
ever, craftier than ever and now they are
more fiscally responsible than ever. nice move.
I have several Friday weddings on the books
this year and really, I mean, why not, right?
Typically, everything is less expensive on
a Friday so why not get more bang for the buck
and still have the whole weekend ahead of you
(not to mention the guests!).
Plus and a big plus at that, if you are having
a Catholic ceremony you don’t get rushed out
of the Church on a Friday in order to make
it available for the evening service!
(comments, questions, thoughts, concerns?)
Moving on, I have a wedding tomorrow as well.
Another St. Paul location. Ft. Snelling Chapel
and the St. Paul Hotel..LOVE the wedding season!
Photos to follow early next week.
It’s going to be a GORgeous day today in Minneapolis.
75 and sunny! The envy of the country! Nothing’s
really blooming yet but the blue sky and warmer
temps are welcome ANYTIME!!!
