Today We Celebrate!

We gather today, rather…this MORNING, to celebrate
Owen’s 4th birthday, which is actually tomorrow.
But no matter, I hope that he always remembers that
MY birthday is exactly one week later! And I’ll be
4 too! Um…yea, scratch that, make that 4-seven :\
(The above photo is, of course, from last year!)

He, Owen, recently split his eye open…jumpin’ on
the bed. Well, he was jumping INto bed but like the
saying goes…”one fell off and broke his head.”
Off to the emergency room for several stitches.
Unlike the staples he got in the back of his head
about 7 months ago…this boo boo is on his right
eyebrow, right up front…just like his aunt Sue-Sue

Drizzly Tuesday.

If it rains in Minnesota in February,
it just means is warm…and I’ll take it!

Back from the gym, Boo at my feet, a fresh
Vienna roast press and lots to blog about.

I’ll start with Reese’s birthday brunch that
took place on Sunday. She turned 1 on Wednesday.
She is so darn cute and at the tender age of
1 she is already fascinated with opening and
discovering gifts.
Owen helped a ton and I have to say that it
was remarkable how Owen didn’t get the least
bit jealous…most kids do…he just helped!
Good job Owen!

Today is my sister and Pete’s wedding
anniversary! 13 years?…wow! Congratulations!

Yikes,it happened! Our first official
snowfall. I got outside right away
knowing that if I waited to long, it
would all melt.

And, indeed, it is all gone.

I also wanted to post some shots from
the Sofitel from Thursday night. That was
some delicious fun! I won a couple of items
in the silent auction that I will be giving
as Christmas gifts. YAY!

I did not picture the auction items that
I won…so dont’ get all excited about the
wine or the mirror!

J is coming over today for her birthday
hair and shoot! Not sure the shoot will
actually take place in that it is a very
blustery day, Pooh. We’ll see.

Today is my aunt Cindy’s birthday!
Happy Birthday Cindy!!

Tomorrow is my sister Anne’s birthday!

Today I’m going along on Anne’s youngest’s
(Amanda) “kid” party at Skateville!

Later today, my neighbors are having their
annual costume party…right across the street!
I’ll post all the fun tomorrow.

I wanted to share a couple shots of Boo.
I don’t think that he’s figured out that he
was neutered a few months back…

Moving on.

I wanted to leave Katie up for awhile as a
sort of memorial so I thank you for all your
concerns and well wishes. Gary and I are just
fine. Didn’t realize that by not blogging I
would arouse such concern. Thank you, again.

Losing Katie was such a shock but I know that
she is with Hobie and that they are happy,
healthy and doing all those crazy brother-
sister things that they always did here.

Last night I joined my sister’s family in
Eden Prairie to celebrate Amanda’s REAL
birthday (10/22)…here are some shots from
that….

Last weekend I got together with a good friend,
whom I hadn’t seen in a while, to photograph
her daughter, Kathryn. Here’s a slide show…

Gary’s off on his first of many pheasant hunting
trips and I’m left to teach Boo that AA batteries
are not toys and foam pumpkins are not treats!

Later today I will venture over to the Sofitel to
meet and listen to Rudy Giuliani and Norm Coleman
speak. I’ve been gonna hit many other stops of
Norm’s but it just hasn’t happened. Today’s the day.

Today is my mom’s birthday!
We all gathered yesterday at my sister’s
for a delicious time. Anne’s FABulously
famous lasagna and a plethora of desserts!

The kids always help with the candles!

Stormy Start.

Gary was up and gone pretty early…
He has a golf outing/tourney/member-guest
thing this morning at 9 down in Northfield.
YUCK. Now it’s pouring and thunder is
shaking the house. I suppose they won’t play.
Good thing too, Gary’s getting sick.
Maybe it will clear???

Later today my entire family and some of
our friends will gather at my sister’s
to celebrate my mom’s 70th birthday (which is
actually tomorrow). My sister makes a totally
KILLER lasagna and I can’t wait to get over
there! We were assigned cake & wine. HA! shocker!

Oh, say, speaking of food, I want to give a
glowing review of “Cosi”. It’s fast food, in
a cosi atmosphere. Here in Eden Prairie next
to Pei Wei is this really great sandwich place.
Like Pei Wei, you step up to the counter and
order, they give you a # to place on your table
and they bring it over to you. So basically it’s
fast food with tipping, really. But my mom and I
stopped in there yesterday for a late lunch
and I had the Sesame Ginger Chicken and my mom
had the Pulled Pork. Both really good. I had
driven by a hundred times and always wondered
about it and now I know. A little spendy but worth it.

Okay..on to the homecoming dance.
J picked out a FABulous cocktail dress.
Albeit a short one, the color looked so good on her!
All the girls looked great! When exactly did
homecoming get to be as big a deal as prom anyway?
I remember going to the football game and then
Hadder’s band, “Purple Haze”, played (loudly) in the
high school gym and everyone just kinda stood around.
NO dresses, no suits, no boutonnieres, NO corsages,
no paparazzi line of of parents trying to capture
the innocence on ANY kind of camera. Well, I was
glad to be there to get in on the action and get
some fun shots of J & her date, Scott.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GARY!!

Today is my husband’s birthday!
This day starts the very long string
of October birthdays in my circle of
friends and family….Gary’s niece, Mariko
is next on Saturday the 4th!
Then my mom’s is the 6th and so on….

This is also a good day to get out all
of your Halloween decorations!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLOG!

First things first…today is my brother, Tim’s
FIFTIETH birthday and that even, officially, means
that I am old as well! YIKES! I mean, really,
parents are 50 not siblings, right?

Next, it’s my blog’s 2nd birthday today.
Let me see if I can find my first post….
Yep, here it is.

Funny how time flies. Well, not so much funny
as it is scary, really.

I visited my mom yesterday and when I arrived
Kiki, Owen & Reese were there in the room.
Owen had come down to have the staples
removed from the back of his head (he lost a
battle with a rock at a campfire a week or so
ago when his chair tipped backwards). We all
walked with mom down the hall to a seating
area where we sat for about a 1/2 hour and visited.
Then we all walked back to the room and at
that point Reese decided that she’d had enough
so the 3 of them left and I stayed and ordered
mom some lunch, consolidated her flowers and
trimmed her bangs. She looks like a new person
but now she needs more flowers (if you are heading
down to see her!).

She’s not eating much these days and if she wants
to get to the rehab facility she needs to get off
the “TPN” (nutrition in an IV bag). They keep
her hooked up to that because she needs her
nutrition to get stronger and altho’ she’s
getting up more and walking further, she still
needs to EAT!!!!! We should all have that problem!
I managed to eat all of the chicken in her
chicken/penne pasta! When I left I told her not
to lie to the nurses or the aides!

Oh, funny thing….my mom will kill me.
I didn’t want to leave my camera in the car the
other day so I brought it in, right?
Then I decided to snap a few shots of my mom
as she was awaiting her CT scan. This is the
final shot in a sequence of 2…hmmm, just 2?

2 steps forward, 1 step back.
I’ll keep you in formed of mom’s progress.

Cory Barton is coming by today. I’m so excited!
She’s my web designer and we have been working
a ton on updating my site. I’ve been dragging my
feet due to all that’s been going on but I assure
you all that it will be completed very soon.

Happy Birthday to G!

18. Wow! I’m officially old.
G turns 18 today and perhaps she’d like
to take Niner’s to the Casino tonight!

I had an early morning call for NILMDTS.
I’m on call all day and so I just jumped
in the car and raced down (rush hour naturally)
to Riverside (University…by Augsburg) and
met a couple whom this would have been their
4th child. But at just 22 weeks, poor, sweet
Tred couldn’t make it work any longer. Devastating.

I could get more calls today, we’ll see.
I’d like to be able to fit the Hilton in later
today tho’…2 families are checking in around
5 today and that is always a joy-filled shoot!
These cancer kids are remarkable! I just love
this part of what I do…I guess this is a
“give back” day for me…It fills me up!

You know what else fills me up?
The fact that I decided to go ahead and cut
ties with Pictage. It was really a long time
coming and for many of you, you know the trials
that I went through with them over the past
couple of years. I think I may still attend
some PUG meetings as I have made so many
friendships there.
